2. "They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, 'In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit.'" (Quran 2:219)

This verse acknowledges that there may be some perceived benefits to gambling, but the harm it causes is greater than any benefits it may offer.

3. "And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]." (Quran 2:188)

This verse addresses the issue of unfairness in financial transactions, which is also applicable to gambling. It prohibits the consumption of wealth obtained unjustly, which includes the winnings from gambling.

4. "And do not throw yourselves with your [own] hands into destruction." (Quran 2:195)

The significance of self care and self preservation is emphasized in this verse. Gambling is not allowed because it can become an obsession and cause harmful behavior.

In addition to these verses, there are numerous hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) that also prohibit gambling. For example, it is narrated that the Prophet said, "Whoever earns his wealth from gambling, it will not be accepted from him on the Day of Judgment" (Sahih Muslim 2260).
